He graduated from South Mecklenburg High School and then the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, getting his Bachelor's Degree in Journalism in 2005. He decided to take a year off between college and law school to work, and during that time he met his future wife, Jessica Hartman. After working for a year, Will attended Elon University School of Law, and was a member of their Charter Class. Will took the North Carolina Bar Exam in July 2009, and was married the week after. After returning from his honeymoon he found out that he passed the 2009 Bar Exam.
Since Will's recent admission to the North Carolina Bar and the United States District Court Western District of North Carolina, he has worked in a variety of legal fields. He started as an associate attorney with The Hamel LawFirm, P.A. working primarily in contract disputes, real estate, estate planning, and debt collection. Working for Bill Hamel provided Will with a great opportunity to learn from an experienced lawyer (over 40 years of practice). During that time Will represented clients in court on several occasions. In January, 2010, Will proudly joined DeVore, Acton, & Stafford, P.A. as an associate attorney. Will is excited about practicing law with his father, Fred William DeVore, III, and one of his lifelong friends, Derek Adler, himself a recent law school graduate from UNC-Chapel Hill, who joined the firm in 2009.
Will is honored to have such a supportive family. His wife, Jessica, is the reason behind Will's successful completion of law school, the Bar Exam, and his legal career. His mother, Susan DeVore is the CEO of Premier, Inc. and has been a strong influence on Will ever since he started grade school. Will's father is the most ethical man he knows and was selected as a Super Lawyer by a national organization that only awards the top 5% of lawyers nationally. Jessica's parents, Charlie and Marsha Hartman, have been a source of never ending encouragement. Will has a 17-year old brother, Stephen, and a 23-year old sister, Julie, who always help him maintain life's balance. Will's hobbies include golf, tennis, basketball, football, watching any type of sport (specifically college basketball), going to church, hanging out with his wife and his dog, Bishop, and relaxing with his family.
Will works with three certified litigation paralegals, Renee Robinson, Connie Hunter and Susie Baker who have all been with the firm for more than fifteen years each. His goal as an attorney is to provide efficient, sound legal advice while keeping close contact with all of his clients.
